Fable Entry "Howard the Lion vs. Greed" By Micheal Syroka3

Many, many years ago, there was a big, ferocious Lion named "Howard". Howard loved to hunt for food along the canal near his home. One brisk, darkened night, Howard the Lion decided to go hunting for his food. Shortly after he ventured out, Howard spotted a juicy, fluffy Hare springing through the entangled shrubs. Howard began a hot pursuit of the agile Hare, and finally caught it near the canals edge. Howard was so exhilarated and full of pride that he decided to wait until he arrived home to devour his prized hare. While Howard the Lion was trotting back home under the bright moonlight, he crossed a row of shacks, used by his human neighbors to store boats and tools. As Howard passed the decrepit wooden shacks, he was startled by an image that looked just like him, but twice his size! This other Lion was huge, but Howard didn't care, because in this Lion's mouth was a plump, juicy hare, twice as big as his! Howard's mouth was saturated in drool, and his tummy was growling louder than two bears in a violent rumble over a slither of meat! Suddenly, Howard dropped the hare out of his mouth, and began chasing the huge Lion up and down the canals edge, but to no prevail. As Howard approached the Lion Foe, he grew bigger; And as Howard moved away, the Lion Foe became smaller! As the intense chase continued, Howard noticed something very strange... The Lion Foe he had been chasing, no longer had a hare in it's mouth! As night became day, the Lion Foe started disappearing right before Howard's eyes! Howard realized that he had been chasing his own shadow the entire night! Starving, he journeyed back, in defeat, for the hare he caught earlier, only to discover it had drifted away in the canal...
